Read the rest of our review to find out which one of these trucks is your perfect match!

2019 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

The 2019 Ram 1500's engine lineup is simply stellar! Most models are powered by the standard Pentastar that we all know and love. This 3.6L V6 engine is pumping out up to 269 lb-ft and 305 horsepower to help you get the job done! This engine is also boosted by the brand-new eTorque mild-hybrid system which bumps the torque up if the situation calls for it and helps restart the ESS system even faster for a more seamless drive. This system also helps boost the engine's fuel economy! The second engine, a 5.7L V8, is available for almost every trim level. Cranking out up to 410 lb-ft and 395 hp, this engine can be equipped with or without the mild-hybrid system. Both engine options are matched to a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers a smooth drive time after time. Both RWD and 4WD configurations are available. Towing maxes out at 12,750 pounds. Plus, the Ram 1500 delivers the best-in-class V8 4x4 combined fuel economy!

2019 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

The Ford F-150's engine lineup is nice but it can be overwhelming and expensive to get the power you need. The available engines start off with the standard 3.3L V6 that delivers up to 265 lb-ft and 290 hp. After that comes the twin-turbo 2.7L V6 that offers up to 400 lb-ft and 325 hp. The third engine, a 3.0L turbodiesel V6, creates up to 440 lb-ft and 250 hp. You can also choose from the 470 hp 3.5L twin-turbo V6 or the 5.0L V8 that puts out up to 400 lb-ft and 395 hp. The very last engine, new for 2019, is the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 (only available for the Limited and Raptor trim levels) that creates 510 lb-ft and 450 hp. The first engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission while the rest are mated to a 10-speed automatic. The Ford F-150 can tow up to 13,200 when equipped with the optional towing package.

2019 Ram 1500 Features & Design

There are seven Ram 1500 trim levels available in the 2019 model year. The base Tradesman model starts the trims off with standard features like Bluetooth, trailer sway control, a 5-inch touchscreen, trailer sway control, heated side mirrors, rear-seat USB ports, automatic headlights, cruise control, rearview camera, air conditioning, six-speaker sound system, a Class III hitch receiver, and auxiliary and USB audio inputs. The upper trim levels build upon the Tradesman with features like larger wheels, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, LED taillights and headlights, fortified suspensions and shock absorbers, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, heated steering wheel, navigation, automatic wipers, power tailgate release, power tailgate release, leather upholstery, and so much more! There is even an available 12-inch touchscreen that can run two apps at the same time!

2019 Ford F-150 Features & Design

The Ford F-150 is available in seven trim levels for the 2019 model year as well. Standard features begin with the entry-level XL model and they include a 4.2-inch central display screen, automatic headlights, trailer sway control, four-speaker audio system, rearview camera, manual mirrors and windows, pre-wired trailer connections, air conditioning, and a manually tilting and telescoping steering wheel. The higher trim levels do add on a few features here and there but for the most part, you are going to have to shell out big bucks for a package or two to get the features that you really want.

Conclusions

Both of these trucks are serious contenders and incredibly capable both on and off the work site but the Ram 1500 pulls ahead with a more impressive powertrain system and more accessible features at a lower price point. The F-150 doesn't even have a touchscreen in their base model! Want to learn even more about the Ram 1500 and all that it has to offer in the 2019 model year?
