2020 RAM 2500 vs 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Do you need a pickup that can carry a small house while still being technologically efficient? Then look no further than the RAM 2500 and the Ford F-250 Super Duty. Both of these trucks bring you the power with a few engine options and touchscreens with all the latest applications. While you can't go wrong with either one of these trucks, there are enough differences that set them apart. In this article, we are going to compare these pickups and see which one comes out on top.

2020 RAM 2500 Power & Handling

Most of the RAM 2500's power comes from a 6.4-liter V8 that pumps out 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, which pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Outside of the Power Wagon, RAM also offers a turbocharged 6.7-liter six-cylinder that makes 370 horses and an astonishing 850 lb-ft of torque that pairs nicely with a six-speed automatic. Four-wheel-drive is an available option on all trims except the Power Wagon, where it comes standard. When the RAM 2500 is fully equipped, the pickup can tow up to 19,680 pounds, which is among the best in class.

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Power & Handling

Three engines are available for the Ford F-250. Starting things off is a gasoline-powered 6.2-liter V8 that makes 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque that comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. New this year to Ford is a 7.3-liter V8 that comes with 475 lb-ft of torque and automatic transmission. Like the RAM 2500, the Ford F-250 Super Duty has a diesel engine and its a turbocharged diesel V8 that comes with a respectable amount of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but all engines have the option of four-wheel-drive if you choose. When fully equipped, the Ford F-250 can tow quite a bit of weight, but less than the RAM.

2020 RAM 2500 Features & Design

The RAM 2500 comes in six trim levels, and each has a ton of terrific features. Starting things is the Tradesman which comes with 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a front bench with vinyl upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, Bluetooth, and a 5-inch touchscreen. Moving up to the Big Horn adds 18-inch steel wheels, an integrated trailer brake controller, remote locking and unlocking, a power-sliding rear window, remote ignition, and cloth upholstery. Higher-level trims come with more impressive features such as LED lighting, a 115-volt power outlet, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, leather upholstery, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top trim is the Power Wagon, which includes off-road specific features such as all-terrain tires, off-road shock absorbers, tow hooks, skid plates, a manual transfer case, and electronically locking differentials.

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Features & Design

Six trim levels are available for the Ford F-250 Super Duty. The base XL comes with telescoping tow mirrors, a removable locking tailgate, and a trailer tow package. Inside the cabin, you get air conditioning, vinyl upholstery, manual windows, and a rearview camera, which is pretty bare-bones. Going with the XLT trim adds power-adjustable heated mirrors, cloth upholstery, power windows, cruise control, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher-level trims add more luxury features such as power-retractable side steps, a power tailgate, multi-contour front seats, and adaptive cruise control. You also get a panoramic sunroof and a two-tone leather interior. The highest Ford F-250 trim is the King Ranch, which comes with a Western-themed trim and styling details. These are some exciting features, but the RAM 2500 offers you more.

While there are merits to both pickups, we are going to give the victory to the RAM 2500. The RAM offers you more towing power and more technologically advanced features than the Ford F-250 Super Duty. Want to take a test drive of the RAM 3500?
