We'll be reviewing the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer to see which one comes out on top! Continue reading below as we dive into the details of what each of these vehicles has to offer.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

The Jeep Grand Cherokee features seven distinct trim levels in its 2021 lineup, with four robust engine options, all of which pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6-liter V6 kicks off the list, providing 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, perfect for the strength and stability needed for an everyday drive. Next comes the ever-popular 5.7-liter V8, offering 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The sport-tuned SRT trim utilizes the 6.4-liter V8, which bumps up its output to 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and lastly, the Trackhawk trim features a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, also utilized by muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger. This engine pumps out a bewildering 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. The Jeep Grand Cherokee also has a Trailhawk trim for peak off-roading performance, and the maximum towing capacity of the lineup tops out at an impressive 7,400 pounds.

2021 Chevrolet Blazer Power & Handling

The Chevrolet Blazer's 2021 lineup features six trim levels, and three engine options. The first engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4, which has an output of 193 horsepower an 188 lb-ft of torque. The second option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4, which provides a slight boost of 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, and last is the 3.6-liter V6, which offers up 308 horsepower ad 270 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, these engines don't quite match up to the Grand Cherokee's engine options, with no V8 available for any of the trim levels. In terms of performance, the Chevrolet Blazer's maximum towing capacity is rated at just 4,500 lbs. The RS trim is the sportiest of the bunch, but compared to the ultra-high-performance features of the Grand Cherokee's SRT and Trackhawk models, there's not much competition.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a wide array of features across its lineup, the number of which increases as you move up the list of trim levels. Some standard features include the Uconnect infotainment center, dual-zone automatic climate control, and safety features like rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Additional features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, premium leather interior, smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Berber carpeted floor mats, and a 19-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system with active noise cancellation. The Trailhawk has distinctive looks with its black hood decal and all-terrain tires, while the SRT and Trackhawk trims have their own sporty features like red and black seats and sport-tuned suspension.

2021 Chevrolet Blazer Features & Design

The Chevrolet Blazer features a muscular-looking exterior that may appear bulky to some. Inside, it seats up to five passengers, though its rear-seat headroom and rear cargo area both fall short of the Grand Cherokee's measurements. In terms of features, the base level trim starts out with an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Unfortunately, the base-level engine can feel a bit sluggish, and the safety features and driver's aids don't kick in until the third trim. Some available features include leather upholstery, heated seats and steering wheel, black exterior accents, and an 8-speaker audio system on the top-level Premier trim.

Conclusion:

After reviewing these two SUVs side by side, we feel it's clear that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is our recommendation over the Chevrolet Blazer. The Grand Cherokee offers more engine power, as well as a highly impressive towing capacity. Its interior is airier and more accommodating to storage, with more standard safety features available from the get-go.
