The 2019 RAM
is a heavyweight this year in terms of added features, capabilities, interior
storage solutions, and advanced technology. And that's a real understatement,
to be fair. Motor Trend ran it through its thorough gauntlet of testing and yet
it emerged, not just unscathed, but the proud winner out of all the trucks
tested: the "2019 Truck of the Year". That's saying something in the very full
and very capable truck segment of today's market! The 2019 RAM 1500 outfits
eTorque to add fuel economy (& power in the mid-range), has options for
suspension-types, gains strength while simultaneously losing a couple hundred
pounds since last year, and even touts top safety testing scores from the IIHS!
The 2019 Ram 1500 has Mouth-watering
Elements & Achievements
- 4-corner air suspension obtainable with 5 ride heights & load leveling
- eTorque designs procure augmented fuel economy
- IIHS relays highest scores attainable in every 6 crash test they have
- Standard coil-spring rear suspension
- Auto air dams operate at 35-mph on coil-spring suspension trucks
- (RWD) V8 eTorque - EPA-rated at 17/23/19 mpg city/hwy/combo
- Nearly 225 pounds net weight reduction
- New high-strength steel platform (98-percent)
- 40 distinct shift maps enable granular transmission control
- The most aerodynamic truck getting .357 coefficient of drag
We would
love to! First off, the brakes are 14.9-inches (largest in the category), and
the fact that there is 98-percent high-strength steel, making it RAM's
strongest truck frame ever. In front of the driver, look for an available
7-inch Driver Info Digital Cluster Display with 3-D graphics and in full color,
and then there is the dual-pane panoramic sunroof to consider, with 10-square-foot!
The 1500 will tow up to a Best-In-Class 12,750-pounds, has a gargantuan 12-inch
touchscreen for split-screen applications, can employ a full-circle Surround
View Camera, and has Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility. Consider the
election as well for devoted toggle switches on a bank, all-new full LED
Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) as an option, and sliding & reclining
seats for row two. The tailgate itself has lift assist, a dampening effect when
opening, and there's even a 60/40 split-tailgate available to purchase! The
split-tailgate enables even more functionality in that workers (and forklifts)
can get closer to the truckbed than in the standard version, and yet it still
holds up to 2,000-lbs when in the laid-down position. There is also a step that
folds down with split-tailgate to enable easier access to the truckbed. If
you're into sound quality, you will love the fact that this truck can come with
a 900-watt amped Harman Kardon sound system with 19-speakers and a 10-inch
subwoofer! We would be remiss if we didn't mention the popular RamBox: an available
class-exclusive cargo management system within the truckbed sidewalls that is
lockable, LED-lit, and drainable! These storage bins can additionally be fitted
with 115-volt/400-watt outlets, perfect for plugging in the stereo at the
worksite without letting the mosquitoes into the cabin)! On the exterior of the
1500, the active sleekness and present-day styling are cleverly functional,
with a 9-percent aerodynamic enhancement on the 2019 truck (i.e. Quad Cab 4x2
has a coefficient of drag is 0.357).
Is It true That the 2019 Ram 1500 Has
Excellent Engine Choices?
Yes! There
are three conceivable engines that RAM provides, encompassing two of them with
eTorque. The eTorque-equipped engines partner up with its ally in the form of a
48-Volt battery-based belt-driven motor generator (instead of a traditional alternator)
to provide torque at key moments, among other fuel-centric benefits. Just a
note for those playing at home, the 1500 is rear-wheel-drive standard but can
be bought as a 4WD. Those two engines that can have the eTorque system are the
second-gen 3.6L Pentastar V6 and the celebrated 5.7L HEMI V8. The third engine choice
is, in actuality, the 5.7L V-8 however, with no eTorque supporting because some
drivers may not desire all of the extra capabilities. All three engines are saddled
up appropriately with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 engine
with eTorque attains 305-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque (90 lb-ft less mid-range torque
if eTorque is not there) and can tow up to 7,730-lbs. The HEMI V8 reaps 395-hp
and 410 lb-ft of torque (130 lb-ft less without eTorque). With the air
suspension and the eTorque-furnished 5.7L, the RAM 15000 has a payload capacity
of 2,300-lbs and towing aptitude of 12,750-lbs! Without eTorque configuration,
it will tow up 11,610-lbs (with the 5.7L). The HEMI V8 version further puts the
cherry on top with a new standard electric engine-cooling fan (850-watt) that runs
Pulse Width Modulation as required.
How Are is the Air Suspension System
for Towing?
There is both
a third-gen, 5-link coil-spring rear suspension or a 4-corner air suspension
system available as choices for the 2019 RAM pickup. The Class-Exclusive
Active-Level Four Corner air suspension will detect immediately any weight and commence
its load-leveling process. The air suspension further customizes the experience
for the owners in that it can physically lower the 1500 for easier access in and
out of the truckbed, using the key-fob! In a similar functionality, the truck self-lowers
about 0.6" when at higher speeds on the freeway, for best aerodynamics.
